Today I was extremely bored so I decided to look up some random stuff on-line. I came across an article concerning someone's( Erudite Ogre's ) idea for a book about a unicorn Apocalypse. I had some thoughts and you can read them below.
The story would take place in modern times. The unicorns would come magically with the discovery of a group of fossilized eggs found in Argentina. The scientists would not be able to figure out what type of animal the egg held and would conduct some tests. One day, the eggs would hatch into unicorns. At the time this would have been an amazing discovery and everyone would be amazed. Too amazed to realize what was coming next. Over time, the diseases and pollution the the humans have done to Earth would start to change the unicorns. With their supernatural senses, the effects would be even worse. They would become little more than dangerous one-horned beasts. They would try to kill all other living things around them. I liked Erudite Ogre's idea about the unicorns death causing earthquakes and other natural disasters on the Earth. Maybe when they died deadly toxins leaked out of their wounds( as an effect of the pollution on their body of course). The unicorns cannot communicate with the humans to negotiate(not that it would work anyway), and killing them destroys and kills too much. I would have the book end with the humans launching a giant space station and leaving Earth. Then, I would write a second book about a group of elite soldiers coming back to Earth to try and fight the Unicorns about 200 years later. I am not sure what I would call the books. Do any of you have some ideas?
